On August 14, President Trump signed the executive order “Enabling Competition in the Commercial Space Industry.” The Executive Order establishes deadlines for agencies to recommend regulatory and policy changes in a number of areas, including launch and reentry, environmental reviews, and establishing a new mechanism for the Department of Commerce (DOC) to authorize and supervise novel space activities. CSF continues to work with DOT and DOC on implementation, including providing recommendations on a voluntary mission authorization framework.
