Washington, D.C.—July 21, 2026—The Commercial Space Federation (CSF) is pleased to welcome Overview Energy, Loft Orbital, and Star Catcher as new associate members — companies advancing space-based energy, streamlining satellite deployment, and expanding in-orbit power capabilities to support the next phase of the commercial space economy.
Overview Energy is building space energy for Earth, turning uninterrupted sunlight in space into directable energy on the grid. Our satellites will collect solar energy 24/7 in geosynchronous orbit and beam it to receivers on the ground—existing and future utility-scale solar projects—as safe near-infrared light. The space solar energy system will be able to shift power across continents in real time based on demand, without changing infrastructure on the ground. Founded in 2022 in Northern Virginia, Overview has already achieved first-of-its-kind power beaming from a moving airborne transmitter and will be heading to LEO in 2028.

Loft Orbital, founded in 2017, provides a fast, reliable way to deploy missions in orbit. Loft integrates, launches, and operates spacecraft on behalf of its customers, allowing them to focus on mission outcomes rather than building or operating their own satellites. By leveraging Loft’s existing space infrastructure, modular technologies, and inventory of satellites on a shelf, customers can deploy new capabilities in months instead of years. Loft has flown more than 25 missions across a wide range of payloads and applications, demonstrating consistent, repeatable performance on-orbit. Loft is a global company with facilities in San Francisco, Golden, Colorado, and Toulouse, France. In 2024, Loft and Marlan Space established Orbitworks, the Middle East’s first private space-infrastructure company, extending Loft’s ability to support customers worldwide.

Star Catcher is building the first energy grid in space to eliminate power constraints on satellites. By beaming concentrated and conditioned solar energy to client spacecraft’s existing solar panels, Star Catcher enables satellites to generate 2-10x more power than onboard systems alone, with no retrofit or custom receiver required.
