How do we solve the data center problem?

Washington, D.C.— September 3, 2026—In a new op-ed, CSF President Dave Cavossa and Jake Ward from the Developers Alliance make the case for orbital data centers.

“Conceptually, we should think of ODCs as expanding rather than replacing land-based data centers. Just as interstate highways complement local roads and carpool lanes supplement highways, space-based computing will supplement terrestrial infrastructure. When ODCs are operating, high-intensity AI workloads will be processed by the additional space-based computing capacity without placing additional demands on local land, water and power grids.”
