Today, CSF, along with over 450 U.S. space, satellite, and defense companies, submitted a letter to Congress urging continued funding for the Office of Space Commerce (OSC) at the $65 million level for Fiscal Year 2026.
As the only civilian agency tasked with providing space traffic coordination — a critical function for ensuring safe, sustainable access to space — OSC plays a vital role in supporting U.S. commercial leadership, innovation, and national security. Much like the FAA for airspace, OSC ensures that satellites can operate safely in an increasingly congested orbital environment, enabling services like broadband, GPS, and weather forecasting to reach millions of Americans.
Without this funding, U.S. companies would face greater risks, higher costs, and diminished competitiveness — potentially pushing operations abroad. Sustaining OSC’s mission keeps space safety under civil oversight, preserves defense resources, and reinforces American leadership in shaping global space norms.
We look forward to working closely with OSC and Congress to continue advancing a safe and thriving space economy.
